30 Date Night Ideas for Valentine’s Day

January 30, 2021

Date night probably looks a little bit different at the moment as we will be spending Valentine’s Day in lockdown but you can easily adapt some of these ideas to do over facetime and quite a lot of them are ‘at home’ friendly too! Hopefully, in the not too distant future, the more adventurous ones that require something outside of lockdown restrictions will soon be a part of a romantic date night again soon!

Date night is always something to look forward to. I think allocating specific time for each other to go and do something rather than just hanging out regularly is so important for stopping you from settling into a mundane routine. It’s a chance to have a bit of time together away from any distractions and is a fab way of trying something new (if you’re into adventurous dates) or just remembering how much fun you have when together. So if you’re after some romantic date night ideas then I’ve hopefully got you covered!

February is a busy month for me and my boyfriend as it’s his birthday, our anniversary and Valentine’s Day all in the space of about 10 days. By the time it got to Valentine’s Day, I’d run out of present ideas to decided to make a list of date night ideas for us to do this year. Sadly, coronavirus has meant we’ve had to spend much of the year apart and we’ve barely had any proper date nights but I’m hoping that we will soon be able to do something normal again!
There should be something to suit every couple in this list and I’ve tried to put together a date for every budget and evening – date nights don’t have to involve spending money. It should be about the time you spend together that matters rather than spending a fortune! Hopefully, you find something in this list to try out and I’d love to know how it goes!

NIGHTS INย

You don’t always need to go out to have fun. Sometimes the best nights are the ones where you can chill out, eat your favourite food and snuggle up to watch a film or do something you both love. I love having a night in with my boyfriend so here are some suggestions! These are all perfect for lockdown!
ย
1. Watch a film with all the cinema snacks
Go to town and buy all of your favourite sweets, set up a little duvet den and pretend you’re at the cinema!
2. Play cards or a boardgame
Bring out each other’s competitive sides by playing a board game – one of the first things me and boyfriend ever did was play cards and it was fun to see how competitive we got. You can even give each other forfeits if you lose!
3. Build a den and camp out all night
Build yourself a little duvet cocoon and spend the night in it!
4. Cook your favourite meal together and set the table
Bring the traditional restaurant meal to you and cook your favourite foods, put your phones away and chat!
5. Have an indoor picnic
This is perfect for if the weather isn’t looking great and it can be so much fun to build a little den and camp out with your picnic!
6. Have a pamper session together – facemasks, massages, facials!
Go to town and show a little self-care by pampering each other
7. Bake something together
This is fun whilst you’re baking and even better cause you get to eat something delicious at the end!
8. Have your favourite takeaway and watch a new TV series
Find something to binge-watch on Netflix, order a takeaway to take the night off from cooking and settle down to watch.
9. Make chocolate fondue
You can’t go wrong with chocolate on a date!
10. Plan a holiday
You could plan your dream holiday together with a wild budget and dream of the times when you can travel again.
11. Teach each other something new
Whether this is a language, a video game or blogging, this can be a fun activity to do when you’re bored!
12. Do portraits of each other
This is even more fun when both of you can’t draw!
13. Give each other massages
14. Do a blindfolded taste test

DAYS OUT

Equally, you don’t need to have a date night. Evenings aren’t the only romantic time of the day and having a day date is so much fun and makes the date last longer!

15. Go for a walk and leave the phones behind
Leaving your phone behind on a day date is the perfect way to ensure you have no distractions
16. Watch a sunset together
17. Go stargazing
Maybe once the weather gets a bit warmer, this is fun to spend the night looking at the stars.
18. Go out for dinner
Obviously, when restaurants open again this is one of the more traditional date night ideas but it’s still a good one!
19. Go out for breakfast
I love breakfast as a meal so I absolutely love going for breakfast dates!
20. Visit a beach
21. Go to the cinema
Don’t look at what’s on, turn up to the cinema and pick something random!
22. Visit a museum
23. Pick the cheapest train and take a day trip to wherever it goes
This is something I’d really like to do!
24. Go swimming
25. Go out for coffee
26. Do the Poundland challenge
Go to Poundland and find the weirdest and most random item for the other person. This can be funny and you never know what you can find in Poundland!
27. Go to an arcade
28. Play mini-golf
29. Play a sport together
30. Browse an antique shop
Obviously, some of these date night ideas are dependent on COVID restrictions but I’m hopeful that soon romantic date nights will be a thing again. I know that the past year has been tricky for many relationships and adapting to virtual dating or only being able to speak to each other on facetime has been tough but there are still many ways that you can have fun despite lockdown.
What romantic date nights have you been doing during lockdown? Do you have any other ideas?ย

Love these ideas! My favourite date ins are living room campouts and movies while my favourite date out is a short road trip outside the city. Can’t wait to go stargazing once it’s a little warmer out. Thanks for sharing these ideas x

These are some fantastic ideas. Date nights at home really can be so much fun, especially since we gave little choice at the minute. Board games and movies with all the snacks are some of my favourites. Iโ€™m also a huge fan of breakfast dates because I love breakfast food! Itโ€™s a great idea to leave phone behind too, as itโ€™s easy to be distracted and not give each other full attention.

These are some wonderful ideas Tash; and I think they are very adaptable to the current situation! I always like to have a pamper night with my boyfriend regardless, and end up getting him those shark or monkey patterned facemasks for children (anything to keep them interested!) which is fun. Hope that you can see/have more date nights with your boyfriend soon.

Similar to you myself and my partner have our anniversary days before Valentine’s day haha. But we have never actually got presents for Valentine’s as we don’t tend to celebrate it at all. But this year we are just going to have a nice dinner on our anniversary(homemade by my partner), probably watch some movies and just relax/spend time together. With us both working from home it can be hard for us to switch off or do something a bit different xx

I've been in a major reading slump recently and I've had so many uni books to get through so I haven't read anything fun for ages ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Have you read this book? What did you think of it?

Also are reviews things you'd like to read on the blog (or insta)?
HAPPY PANCAKE DAY! ๐Ÿฅž Here is a completely unre HAPPY PANCAKE DAY! ๐Ÿฅž

Here is a completely unrelated photo to pancakes (I'm having some later!) but here are some of the horses I see on my daily walk!

How are you doing at the moment? Are you having pancakes today?
This is a really old photo but I have nothing rece This is a really old photo but I have nothing recent to post ๐Ÿ™ˆ

How is everyone doing? Truth be told I've been feeling a bit overwhelmed and dishearted with my blog and uni so I'm trying to give myself some time off.

What have you been doing?

I started bullet journaling last month and have been finding it so relaxing. I am not the best at the art side of it though ๐Ÿ˜…๐ŸŽจ

Finally we have some snow!! I've been a bit MIA Finally we have some snow!!

I've been a bit MIA in the blogging world due to university assignments and feeling a bit run down. It's the final week of uni deadlines and then I'm chilling for a week!

The snow has really lifted my mood โ„๐ŸŒจ

Do you have any snow where you are?

I've not been very active in the Instagram or blogging community recently as I've had so much uni work to do that I just haven't had the time to keep on top of it all! ๐Ÿ™ˆ

I'm hoping in the next few weeks I'll get my blogging mojo back and have more time but for now if you don't see me around I'll hopefully be back soon enough ๐Ÿฅฐ

How are people feeling after the announcement yesterday? If I'm honest I'm feeling a bit deflated about it and university students are always forgotten. Every. Single. Time!!

I'm hoping that during this lockdown (and once these deadlines have passed) I'll have more time for my blog and to start creating new content as I'm excited for my blog in 2021! ๐Ÿ˜‡

In other news, I'm sticking to one of my new year goals and trying to go running and I'm actually enjoying it?! How are your new years goals going, if you set any?
