5 Winter Interior Design Tips to Revamp your Home

The nights are drawing in and the days are seemingly getting shorter. It can only mean one thing, winter is on its way. I must admit, winter is not my favourite season as I am not very good at dealing with the cold but it does give me an excuse to start making things cosy. I am a big fan of winter interior design as I love creating a sense of comfort, warmth, and a hint of festivity. This is where Poster Store steps in. You may have seen I previously used a variety of prints and posters from their website to start creating my dream gallery wall. I loved my prints so much I decided to use them to help make the house ready for the festive season.

POSTERS AND PRINTS

Like I’ve said previously, I used Poster Store to find some new prints to spruce up the house. I picked out three prints in their biggest size (70 x 70) to update the dining room and guest bedroom. The colours subtly remind me of the festive season with the touches of gold and warm tones. I love the abstract design of them and absolutely adore the colours. This kind of marble swirl is one of my favourites, my iPad, Kindle and phone case also have this design on them! I love finding new prints on Poster Store as they have such a huge selection that it makes it so hard to decide.

WHO ARE POSTER STORE?

Poster Store are the answer to all your winter interior design needs! They have such a wide variety of posters, prints, and frames to help you revamp your home for the winter season. A new collection is released every Tuesday so you’ll always have some new inspiration too. Whatever theme you decide to go for, Poster Store has such a wide selection of prints to help you create your perfect gallery wall. Like I’ve said, we’ve decided to add prints with some gold and warmth in them to make our house feel cosier and more festive in the coming winter months! All the posters are inspired by Scandinavian design and are so affordable that you can switch up your home every season. Not only that but all of Poster Store’s prints are made using sustainably produced paper and they aim to be as environmentally conscious as possible!

FAIRY LIGHTS

Is there anything that screams winter interior more than a fairy light? Fairy lights are the ultimate winter essential. They help to make a space instantly feel cosier and warmer. Paired with the prints I’ve picked, I think the fairy lights will help to draw out the gold and warm tones in the prints. I love to add fairy lights around the fireplace, up the stairs, or even around my prints to either create a focal point or set the ambience of a room. Fairy lights are the perfect way to set the tone of a room and are some of the easiest ways to update your interior design for winter.

BLANKETS AND RUGS

In the UK, winter is most definitely cold. There is nothing quite like returning home from being outside and snuggling up on the sofa. Once winter well and truly hits blankets are essential and are a great way to make the winter evenings more comfortable. If you live somewhere with lots of wooden floors, consider adding a rug to warm the space up. The prints I chose have so many different colours in them so there are so many options to use blankets and rugs to bring out certain colours and aspects depending on the theme of your room.

CANDLES

Much like fairy lights, would any winter interior be complete without a candle? With the short evenings, a candle becomes an absolute essential to add light to darker areas. I love burning scented candles in the winter months. They instantly create a calming atmosphere and come in a whole host of delicious scents (cinnamon is always my favourite)! You can accessorise your interiors further by adding snazzy candle holders or jars to make them a feature.

WARM TONES AND TEXTURES

While it may be cold outside, winter interior design calls for an injection of warmth to your inside spaces. Picking out earthy and warm tones to add to different rooms creates a cosy and comfortable atmosphere. Adding things like cushions or throws to sofas or beds instantly warms a space up and creates a bit of texture. Winter fashion is often chunky knitwear, scarves, and hats and the same principle can be applied to your interior decor.

Those are some of the easiest ways to start modifying your house for the winter season. Updating prints and adding warmth and cosy lights are such a simple way to make you feel ready for the winter season. I think it’s so fun to switch up your interior design as the season’s change and we do it a lot in my house!

Aw I love the marble swirl prints you chose. I wish Poster Store was available in my country. Their prints look so nice! And love the tips you also gave to make a house more cosy during winter. Though I don’t experience winter where I live, I do like to incorporate fairy lights in my room as well as a candle that smells like Christmas to give it that festive feel!! 🙂
